WHY MEXICO CITY (CDMX) ?

We wanted to have a wedding experience that embodies our love for travel and culture without burdening our guests too much. We did a lot of research and realized that Mexico City (CDMX) has the prefect blend of arts, cafes, fun, food, and safety that would best embody our spirit for adventure and hospitality.

WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE?

The weather in June is temperate.
Average temperatures are 75 degree highs in the day with 55 degree lows at night.
It rains semi-frequently, so pack accordingly!
Average humidity is 66%. This is close to the Los Angeles humidity which is typically around 60% and averages 65% in June.

IS MEXICO CITY SAFE?

Yes! If you stay in the regular/nice neighborhoods and exercise common sense. Like any foreign travel, know where you're traveling to and look after your belongings.

The central and touristy areas (where we're staying) are all safe to traverse and walk around. Like us, you will be enamoured by the charming architecture, lush greenery, and ubiquitous street cafes.

WHAT IS THE COVID SITUATION IN MEXICO?

62% of Mexico is Fully Vaccinated.

Mexico has recovered from a slight Omicron bump and is currently experiencing 12.1 cases per 100K people (half that of California) as of 2/25/22 via 91DIVOC.

The situation on the ground is "business as usual" with face masks required inside.

CAN I DRINK THE WATER AND/OR ICE?

No for Tap water.

Yes for restaurants. Every reputable (and most non-reputable) restaurant in Mexico City uses filtered water. In fact, every bar, cafe, Starbucks, and even some street vendors, use ice that they have purchased from water purifying plants. They do not use tap water or unpurified water.

But when in doubt, drink bottled water!

Steph says better safe than sorry!

DO I NEED TO KNOW SPANISH?

It's possible to get by without knowing Spanish and using google translate. You may find English speakers are less common than in typical tourist cities like Cancún. You'll get by fine, just not as easily as you may be used to.

DO I NEED A PASSPORT?

Yes.
While you may have returned from Mexico without a passport in the past. This was likely over the road/ocean and a long time ago. Passports are requrired.

WILL I HAVE TO GET A COVID TEST TO LEAVE OR RETURN TO THE USA?

No test to Leave USA.

Yes test to Return to USA. See COVID 19 section of website for more information.

CELLULAR.DATA PLANS

Verizon Plans (even Unlimited) are throttled after 0.5Gbs/day. It's unusable and I suggest picking up a SIM card at a convenience store.

AT&T Performance is unknown, but see plans here.

TMobile plans work perfectly well.
